Cloud computing

Sitting on terrace with my close buddies in college, sipping tea and having an awesome chat on our all time favorite topic of "MATERIAL MANAGEMENT"

Suddenly a commerce background colleague stepped in cafe with a question "Guys do u have any idea about cloud computing" in front of a bunch of non-engineers group.

The first thing they did and that most mba does is to google and opened the first link and read "Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network".Watching the discussion and looking at the reaction of the non-engineers it urged me to write an article on cloud computing.

Cloud computing is a technology that uses internet and central remote serves to maintain data and applications.cloud computing allows consumers and business to use applications without installations and access their personal files at any computer with internet access, the idea of the cloud simplifies the many network connections and computer system involved in online services.cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosting of services over the internet.

these services are broadly divided into three categories:
1.infrastructure as a service
2.platform as a service
3.software as a service.

In this article we are going to discuss Software-as-a-service.

SaaS is a class of software that is available on demand and often directly from the application service provider.one of the best known SaaS application is salesforce.com,a customer relationship management application used by many businessmen.under salesforce SaaS model, users connect to salesforce.com
web based system and buy only required licenses for their users, licenses in their model aren't "per computer" as happens with a lot of other software.

Letz have a look on how the inbound B2B SaaS purchase process is carried out using SaaS as a platform.General process metric model applied to a top-level B2B purchase process.

The worldwide SaaS revenues indicate the growth and the usage of SaaS as a service platform.

Surrogate Marketing

Communicating the value of a banned or illegal  product/service of a company by using an acceptable brand extensions of the same company with  the same logo and brand name.

In simple words,it is a strategy which refers to an indirect way in which companies advertise their products, and use minor loopholes in the law to still achieve the basic marketing objectives of building brands, creating customer associations and promoting brands.

SWOT Analysis of Mobile Marketing

SWOT Analysis of Mobile Marketing

"Myopia Marketing" - Theodore Levitt

It started as an assignment given by one of the professor of our college @fabs in which we supposedly has to read any article of our intrest from HBR and review about the article to the concerned professor.
Glancing through the HBR magazine available at our library and googling a bit for the 10 best HBR must reads, I came across an article  “myopia marketing” coined by theodore levitt in his article that was published way back in 1960 and won mckinsey award in 1960 for the same.
Theodore levitt in his article introduced a very famous question ,"What business are you really in?"and with it the claim that, had railroad executives seen themselves as being in the transportation business rather than the railroad business, they would have continued to grow. The article is as much about strategy as it is about marketing, but it also introduced the most influential marketing idea of the past halfcentury:that businesses wilt do better in the end if they concentrate on meeting customers'needs rather than on selling products.

After Reading the whole article and learning the examples which were mostly related to international examples. It made me to think over some Indian examples and came up with few examples where the concept of “myopia marketing” would have been applied and the examples where application of “myopia marketing” had made a great impact for the respective company.

1.Amitabh Bachchan
2.Music Industry - Tips.
3.Ambassodar
4.IPL
5.Indian Postal Service

How did the concept of myopia marketing made an impact on the above examples??
Will soon be published on the page..

Roadblocking advertisement

According to Wikipedia, a roadblock is a temporary installation set up to control or block traffic along a road.
Roadblock adverisment are of two types or takes place in two ways mainly:
  1. Vertical Roadblock.
  2. Horizontal Rooadblock.
1.  Vertical Roadblock:The term is used when an advertiser buys up all the advertising on a channel for a given length of time like a full day

2.  Horizontal Roadblock:The term is used when an advertiser buys up all the advertising across a band of channels at a particular time, say an hour, thus preventing any other advertiser from being present at those times.

Employing this method of advertising does 2 things very well:
1. ‘Shock and Awe’ : A perfect example of a shock and awe tactic, it grabs eyeballs like no other.
2. Showcases super-deep pockets: With the kind of expense it carries, you have to have very deep pockets to be able to even afford it, leave alone evaluating whether it is worth.

  • The first road blocking in Indian Context was done in 1994 when a small fire extinguishing company. The company decided to use 9 different commercials to launch its diversification into keep fresh kitchenware.
  • Later in the fall of 2007 the concept of roadblock re-appeared with a big bang.Vodafone reportedly spent upwards of Rs 10 crore to announce its name change to the world, using a range of short and long commercials exclusively in all breaks, both vertically and horizontally.
  • On 1st April, 2009 Bingo used road blocking strategy which was a vertical road blocking by combining with MTV to celebrate BAKRA DAY.All commercial breaks were exclusive to Bingo, but beyond that the content itself was recreated to showcase the brand and its ‘no confusion, great combination’ message.
