Emotional advertising shows the target audience the benefits of the product or service through drama and relies on them being so involved with the characters and finding the story so relevant that it will hit an emotional chord.Emotional advertising is much more indirect in its persuasion.

Understanding the importance of it many companies design their campaigns to connect their target customers in an effective way.

Recently,Microsoft has done remarkable work in developing a computer system which will monitor the activites of user and will stores the emotional state of the user in the emotional database of the system.

How it will help the advertisers?

Once the advertisers receive information about a user’s emotional state, that advertiser “transmits, to the user, the selected advertisement with best monetization value.”

WASHRROOM ADVERTISING is below the line marketing technique which acts as a alternative medium for the above the line marketing activities.This form of advertising is completely unexplored until a few years ago and has been recognized off late to a great extent due to its various factors such as: 
1.Targeting is almost 100%. 
2.Position of the poster. 
3.High exposure of the message that is supposed to be conveyed. 
4.High Return on investment.
After monitoring the benefits of washroom advt,several brands have stepped in to the race,so as to catch the eyeballs of gender-specific customers.Companies who are already using this from of advertising channel are Dixcy Scott, mainstream brands from Whisper, Stayfree, Dettol, Lakme, and L'Oreal to Lux, Axe, Diesel, Sony Pix and Zee TV are advertising in the restrooms of Indian multiplexes.
But there are people of other school of thought,who says/wonders that,will this form of communication medium help the companies to translate into sales because the ambience adds or deletes to brand preference.

Volkswagen Times of India advt


Today morning when readers of Times of India opened the newspaper reacted with surprise,when the page started to vibrate.The device was placed on the final page of the paper which weighs a few grams.While many were startled by the innovativeness of the ad,many users found it interesting and captivating and arresting.


But,this is not the first time the company used this form of medium so effectively.Last year on 21st sept,a similar kind of ad was published in TOI which had the same black color device having a
pre-recorded message speaking about the Vento car and thus the world first ever "Speaking newspaper" was putforth by TOI and Volkswagen.

Bullwhip Effect In SCM



The bullwhip effect is a well-known phenomenon in supply chain management. In simple terms, linear supply chain that consists of a manufacturer, a distributor, a wholesaler and a retailer, we observe that the retailer’s orders to the wholesaler display greater variability than the end-consumer sales, the wholesaler’s orders to its distributor show even more variable, and the distributor’s orders to the manufacturer are most volatile.

Each participant of the chain should maintain its actions in a good relation to other participants and the supply chain in general and make decisions beneficial to the whole chain. If the coordination is weak , a conflict of objectives appears among different participants, who try to maximize personal profits. Besides, all the relevant information for some reason can be unreachable to chain participants,which leads to irregular comprehension.And predominantly all these lead to the so-called Bullwhip Effect resulting from information disorder within a supply chain. Different chain phases have different calculations of demand quantity, thus the longer the chain between the retailer and wholesaler the bigger the demand variation.

A retailer can realize a small variation in customers’ demands as a growing trend and purchase from a wholesaler more products than he needs.Increased order at wholesalers is larger than at retailers as the wholesaler cannot regularly comprehend the increased order. As the chain grows longer the order is larger.If a retailer plans the product promotion he can increase the order.If a manufacturer comprehends the increased demand as constant growth and in the same manner makes purchases, he will face the problem of inventory surplus in the end of promoting period.A variation in demands increases production expenses and expenses of the whole supply chain in an effort to deliver the ordered quantity in time. A manufacturer accomplishes demanded capacity and production but when the orders come to a former level, he remains with the surplus of capacity and inventory.

The bullwhip effect:

Increases the level of inventory, accordingly the warehouse space is more
occupied,all of which leads to an increase in holding or carrying costs of storage services.
Prolongs the lead time – the time period from the moment of purchasing to the
  moment of receiving the order.
Demands more efficient transportation to satisfy the increased demand, which
   leads to a high transportation cost.
Increases labor costs.
• Decreases the level of product availability,which can lead to deficiency of retail inventory.
